How to Get Your Gmail Emails in Outlook

G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook

So, I don’t know about you, but whenever I tried to get MS Outlook to add a new Gmail Account, it just kept on asking me to provide my password.  I went round and round in circles, checking my that Gmail settings allow IMAP connections, setting an App Password and allowing less secure apps to use my Gmail account.  But still, Outlook kept asking me for my password and wouldn’t load the account.

The technology gremlin was out, and I just wanted to SCREAM.

But then I discovered G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook (GSSMO).  GSSMO allows you to use Microsoft Outlook® 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016 effectively with G Suite.  Once installed, it can sync all your emails, contacts, calendar entries, notes and tasks to Outlook depending on how you’ve set it up.

Keep reading as I give you instructions on how to download and setup GSSMO

Firstly, you’ll need to check your system requirements and download the G Suite Sync App by clicking here:  G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook

  • Double click on the downloaded application to run it
  • A pop-up will appear asking you to enter your Google Apps Address (your email address), enter it and click continue

  • Your default browser will load and you may be asked to log in.   Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be asked if you want to “Allow G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook to do this?”  Click Allow and then minimize your browser.
  • You will now see a setup screen.   Leave all the boxes unticked and click “Create Profile”

Finally, click “Start Microsoft Outlook”.   Your Gmail account will now be synced with Microsoft Outlook but this could take a little while depending on how many items need to be synced from your account.
